This five-section theatre stages classical works, modern music and dance and pieces by contemporary playwrights. Hessisches Landestheater Marburg
Shaped by the academic environment of a university town, Marburg has a rich cultural scene. The Landestheater contributes to this with five venues across the city. In-house productions by the house cast stand alongside a wide variety of guest plays including dramas, comedies and children’s plays.
An elegant Art Nouveau building hosts Giessen’s town theatre, founded in 1906. This three-section theatre has often been commended by critics and offers an extensive programme featuring operas and operettas, classical concerts and contemporary theatre and dance. As well as a main venue accommodating 600, the town theatre also has a studio venue on the Löbershof.
